Stand Up For Pits

Posted on November 5, 2013

The flash of paparazzi bulbs. Crowds gather on the street. The courtyard at Largo is lined with gift baskets and auction items. The Hollywood whose who is dressed to the nines. Yes, it’s a night everyone will remember. And then…the guests of honor start arriving. It’s a sight to behold.

Rebecca Corry is the force behind Stand Up For Pits. Her goal is simple– to advocate and educate others about the beautiful breed know as the pit bull. Angel, her trusted sidekick is living proof of the truth. These dogs are born good and deserve respect and love.

Rebecca says, “The success of this event and cause is also proof that the hatred and ignorance directed at the innocent and the voiceless will no longer be tolerated. I’m humbled and honored to be the guardian to the inspiration for all of this and now part of such a strong cause standing along side amazing people and will proudly continue to be their voice until there is no more hate.”

Yeah. I couldn’t agree more. Thank you Rebecca for your passion and spreading the word. Baby steps will get us there.

Another great event to raise money for the dogs! Rock and Rescue sure knows how to put on a great fundraiser! Don’t miss out on the next one.

What a fantastic fundraiser! There was great food, lots of raffle prizes, a silent auction and of course lots of dogs. Thank you K9 Connection for all you do for the dogs and the kids. You are all amazing!

For those interested in coming to next year’s bash, be sure to sign up for their mailing list. And if you want to donate to the cause, you can do that at any time!

S.T.A.R.T {One Year Anniversary}

Posted on June 10, 2012

S.T.A.R.T. SHELTER TRANSPORT ANIMAL RESCUE TEAM (A 501c3 non-profit) was formed in May 2011 by Steve Spiro, Suzanna Urszuly, Rene Ruston and Adam Tarshsis.

They began raising money and transporting dogs from high kill shelters here in LA and sending them via van or plane to Oregon, Washington (WA) and Canada where they go to reputable no kill shelters or foster homes.

To date they have transported 1468 doomed death row dogs who are placed into loving homes.

Each transport costs between $2500-$3500 depending on the destination of the receiving group.

THE GOAL – to raise enough money to fund at least 8 transports a month.

They are also are teaming up with a pilot who can fly 30 dogs at a time and made the local news.

Happy one year anniversary guys! You are awesome.

Wow. I got to meet Betty White and spend the afternoon with her. What a thrill. What an honor. What a very special lady. And she is so full of love and joy. And she laughs all the time. And she makes everyone feel like they are the only one in the room. No wonder she is such a success. She is one of the most genuine people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I’m sure everyone who met her at the Montecito Guide Dog event would agree. :)

Don’t forget to adjust the volume. Enjoy the slide show.
